When to drink: 2021 to 2024

A Lisa is a kind of introduction to the world of Noemía in Río Negro. This is 90% malbec, and the rest is merlot, all from producers in the Mainque area. 20% of the volume of the wine was aged in used barrels for about nine months, while the rest remained in stainless steel. This new vintage has a delicious red side. It's refreshing, juicy, and highly drinkable, but it also has deep flavors in a creamy texture.

This wine is an introduction to the world of Noemía. Winemaker Vinding-Diers buys grapes from producers in the Mainque zone, and this is sort of a Village wine. It’s 90% malbec, 9% cabernet sauvignon, and 1% petit verdot. The wine is fruity to a delicious degree, and the fruits are ripe and red. There’s a slightly floral touch, but it’s the fruit that’s calling the shots. The texture is smooth and friendly. One of those wines that’s very easy to drink.

From the beginning, A Lisa has always been intended as the introduction to the wines of Mainque, a zone of big wines, especially reds. Noemía buys grapes from producers in the zone and creates a delicious, firm and smooth wine, full of red notes with hints of spice and lots of fresh fruit to mold the texture. A wine for summer.

A Lisa comes from vineyards in the Valle Azul and is made with grapes from producers in the Mainqué zone. It’s debuting its new Burgundy-style bottle this year, which in some ways is more consistent with what’s inside it—a delicious juice recalling cherries and violets. For Beaujolais lovers, this will seem like a local take on a French favorite.

Baked plum and berry aromas are lusty and jammy. In the mouth, this is tannic and the acidity is citric in character. Flavorwise, A Lisa is pumping out brawny berry flavors matched by lemony oak notes, and the finish is expansive, with blanketing tannic grip. This will show best in late 2014, after it's had more time to settle.

Concentrated and jammy smelling, with a note of iodine to go with racy black fruit aromas. Dense as night in the mouth, with gamey, roasted berry flavors. Turns minty on the finish, with a hint of herbal green. Fruity and nice but lacks that final gear.

his wine is being produced at 57,000 cases, and this vintage shows distinct aromas of green herbs and tomato. In the mouth, it rings with acidity such that raspberry and red-plum flavors taste sour. Tasted twice with similar results.

A mellow, pure Malbec, with soft, subtle aromas of graham cracker, licorice, blueberry and chocolate. The palate has a welcome freshness that melds acidity and ripe fruit into a correct whole, and the flavors of blackberry, spice, coffee and chocolate work great together. Just right for the money, with blackness, richness and balance. contains 90% Malbec with 9% Merlot and a drop of Petit Verdot.

2008 VintageTasted: Jan 2010

Colorful but low in pulse, with jammy, pasty aromas sitting in front of a bulky, one-dimensional palate that offers standard blackberry fruit and mildly herbal side flavors. Has just enough acidity to keep it pumping, but as a whole it comes across a little too heavy and jammy compared to previous years.

2007 VintageTasted: Jan 2008

Seems like the most extracted, borderline raisiny A-Lisa to date (it began with the 2005 vintage). But if a touch of overripeness isn't a turn-off, then this meaty Malbec from Patagonia will be appealing for its plum, berry and chocolate talking points. Because it's so full and luggish, we say drink it soon.

Very purple and expressive, with charred barrel aromas that border on burnt. Fortunately, the fruit below is quite healthy, but besides oozing blueberry and blackberry it's not overly defined or regal. Put this Patagonian Malbec into the category of vibrant and interesting and you won't be disappointed.

(2008) 90% Malbec, 10% Merlot. No new oak in this cuvée, only second and third fill barrels. Nice oak on this, with a fine, cedary character. Fruit is delicate, with a red fruit and a very fine smokiness. The palate has very pure, racy red fruit character, just backed up with an integrated delicate oakiness. Good persistence and juiciness, and the creamy oak just adding depth.

2005 Vintage

A lovely, crisp-styled Malbec (withMerlot) that does the Río Negro region of Patagonia proud. A Lisa is in its inaugural vintage, and the wine boasts toast, mineral and black fruit both on the nose and in the mouth. Not exactly streamlined but tighter than most Malbecs. Drink now into 2008.
